Class Expectations and Procedures: This course will strictly adhere to the State Standards. However, detours are to be expected and other material will be covered (depending on time constraints). Students are expected to utilize the side board for the weekly schedule and pick up any missed assignments. Students are to come to class prepared with paper and a writing utensil every day. Other materials may be required throughout the year, on these occasions the students will be given ample warning. Retention of the course material covered is expected. Class Rules: Violations of these rules will result in consequences. These include, but are certainly not limited to: 1) Warning, 2) Seat Change, 3) Phone Call Home, 4) Referral and a trip to the office. I reserve the right to skip any of these consequences if I deem the infraction worthy. The class rules are as follows: (All School Rules are in effect as well)
Be respectful to others, this includes: No Talking while the Teacher is Talking.
Sit in your assigned seats, and if you need to move for any reason, raise your hand.
Clean up after yourself, the teacher is not your maid.
No food or drinks, without a reseal-able lid.
Grading Rubric: Your grade will be broken down in this way. Extra Credit will be assigned at the teacher’s discretion. To earn Extra Credit, the student must perform above and beyond reasonable expectations.Unexcused Late Work will be docked 10% and an additional 10% for each day it is late. Students will be able to make up any quiz or test at lunch during the following 10 school days this is restated below. All grades are final.

MAKE-UP work and test policyYou can turn in make-up work for up to 2 weeks(which is usually-10 school days) after the assignment was given. However each day that you fail to turn in that assignment, 10% will be deducted for each day it is late. So for example if you turn in and assignment 4 days late you will lose 40% of the score, so it is important to make sure that when turning in work late you have completed the whole assignment and gotten the most points you can. As far as test are concerned you may retake test or quizzes in that 2 week time frame but understand that you must retake the whole test which includes the essays. Also since you are retaking the test 10% will automatically be deducted since you are "retaking" the same test over.All tests and quizzes must be made up at Lunch time ONLY!
ALL STUDENTS MUST PASS CLASS SET-UP QUIZ TO PASS THE CLASS
This "class set-up quiz" is a must pass quiz in order to pass the class. The quiz covers information on how Mr. Chapman's class is set-up and runs. It is a vital skill set in this class that all students need to know. The quiz must be passed with a grade of a 9 out of 10 (90%). Passing this quiz ensures that you as a student, the teacher and the parents/guardians that the student know how to be successful in the class and how to get make-up, missing, assignments, etc. in the class. Failure to do so show that you as a student don't know how this class works.
The QUIZ may be taken as many times as needed to pass until the end of the semester(this is the only quiz to can take over and over until the end of the semester, the other quizzes relate to the previous paragraph above. Students will need to come into class at lunch and retake the quiz.
*THE “C” POLICY*
One last note I would like to make you aware of and that is, in this class no student should fail. I have a policy that if all assignments are complete, and all test are taken to the best of their ability even if that requires numerous attempts at the test, and the student attends class regularly with few absences, "IF" all this is done, and that means NO zeros, and good attendance, then the student should not receive a grade lower than a “C.” Keep this in mind when grades come out.
